Saving Lives Beyond Borders

An initiative for EU-wide interoperability of smartphone-based first responder systems.

The Interoperability Approach

Today's smartphone-based alerting systems (SbEA) are highly effective but technically isolated. Link4Life bridges these gaps through a decentralized API architecture.

Full System Autonomy I believe in empowering existing providers. My API approach ensures that app developers maintain full control over their user base and logic while enabling "Responder Roaming".
Seamless Integration No "master app" required. By connecting dispatch centers (112) with various networks, we ensure that the closest lifesaver is alerted—regardless of which app they have installed.

The Vision

The Roadmap

Link4Life is an evolving initiative. I am following a structured path to transform this vision into a technical reality. Note: This timeline is subject to dynamic adjustments based on expert feedback.

Phase 1: Concept Launch Conceptualization and publication of the Link4Life One-Pager.
Phase 2: Open Consultation (Current) Gathering constructive feedback from the community, EMS experts, and ICT specialists to validate the decentralized approach.
Phase 3: Whitepaper Development Drafting the technical Whitepaper, incorporating the gathered feedback and defining the API standards.
Phase 4: Selective Review Focused feedback loop with key stakeholders (e.g., dispatch centers and app providers) on the Whitepaper draft.
Phase 5: Regional Proof of Concept (PoC) Initial technical validation in selected regions (e.g., Luxembourg and neighboring cross-border areas).
Phase 6: Finalization & Global Outreach Finalizing the Whitepaper and initiating broad implementation dialogues on an EU level.

About the Initiator

Link4Life was born out of 20 years of experience in emergency medical services. As a long-time volunteer in ambulance services, SAMU (Mobile Intensive Care Unit), and as an Assistant Incident Commander, I have seen first-hand how every second counts.

Professionally, I am an Engineer currently serving as Head of Department in the ICT sector. This background allows me to bridge the gap between medical urgency and technical implementation.

As an early supporter of the "Staying Alive" initiative in Luxembourg, I have frequently experienced the frustration of being a trained lifesaver abroad while remaining "invisible" to local systems. Link4Life is my commitment to changing that through smart, interoperable technology.

I am currently seeking technical and medical feedback to finalize a comprehensive Whitepaper.
